thank you, i cant see what problems there can be as 99% of them are personal ones so its not a copyright issue .
Also they are the reason why the site is popular according to a number of members that I have talked with.
If the town and area photos go there's not much reason to be one. I myself have added loads which are all my own copyright so cannot see why anyone would pull them if they help the town. For a town largely forgotton since the 80's it would be a shame if we cannot publicise it any more.
Colin e-mailed all members saying its technical probs so fingers crossed it will be fixed and back again soon eh !!
I will have to be looking into any photos I have once the probs are sorted.
This is the Official start of the FREE THE SHILDON 1200 an sum PHOTO`S campain (be a bit weird if they arent in prison) but hey Lets all get behind this

I agree, most of the older Shildon photos are on lots of websites and in books ALL claiming copyright. AND anyway copyright laws have a time limit. The Copyright, Designs and Patent Act 1988 states:
"For literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works (inc photographs)
If the author is unknown, copyright will last for 70 years from end of the calendar year in which the work was created"
A lot of the old photos are older than 70 years and so copyright does not apply.
